HotQua String Band began as an idea between original members Bob Hoehne and Jesse Scriven, who met while collaborating in the music program at Umpqua Community College. The band came together for the first time in September 2003 and was an immediate hit with their audiences. Their music has been described as Gypsy Swing and Latin Hoedown with a dash of Django added to the mix.
